biography

Zoe Preece is an artist based in Cardiff, Wales. She was born in Sussex, England. She attended Cardiff School of Art and Design, Wales where she received her BA in Ceramics, and her Masters in Ceramics.

Zoe's work is led by her material enquiry. Through installation and the creation of still lives, Zoe explores liminal spaces and the domestic, offering alternative perspectives on the familiar and the mundane, and questioning the ways in which we attribute these value.

'These usually overlooked moments – such as making a cup of tea, preparing a meal or washing up the dishes – are the focus of the artist's compelling work, which reconsiders the significance of the intermediate, quotidian moments that fill up the spaces between the landmarks of our lives . . . With her quiet, unassuming work, Preece reminds us that it is often in the mundanity of life that we find some of the most poignant and poetic moments.'
